I have never felt as calm or one with myself as I felt in the Mosque in Coptic Cairo today. Despite the silky green fabric that clung to my body, insulating every degree of heat, I felt perfect.

Culture shock has still not set in yet. It has only been a few days. I’ve already lost track of which day of the week it is, along with the date and the time. I know it’s a symptom of summer wherever I may be, but the lack of internet, my cell phone and a watch make it exponentially worse. I keep forgetting that home is seven hours behind. I guess this will take a little getting used to, and getting into the routine of classes will hopefully help, too.

I miss my dad already. I wish I could talk to him.
